- This collection consists of papers from the personal files of J. Lennart Cedarleaf. Most files are related to his work with the ACPE, as well as notes on the writing of personal narratives (also called autobiographic theology). Personal correspondence, files on pastoral care, delinquency prevention materials, and various essays and news clipping are also included.

- Biographical/Historical Note:
- John Lennart Cedarleaf was born on August 5, 1915 in Rockford, Illinois. He was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in 1946. Lennart served as the Chaplain and the Clinical Director at the State Teaching School for Boys in St. Charles, California, from 1948-1954. He then worked at the North Reception Center in Sacramento from 1954-1978.
Cedarleaf was a member of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), serving as the President from 1978-1979, and then as the Director of the Pacific region from 1980-1988. In 1986 Lennart was recognized by the ACPE with the Distinguished Service Award. He passed away on January 25, 1993.
