Description/Summary
- Summary:
- "Procedures for the disposal of chemical wastes on the Emory University campus were brought to out attention in a September, 1974 issue of the Emory Wheel. Investigations for this study indicated that several particularly hazardous items were buried on an open hillside of the University's Lullwater Estate during the summer of 1974. Among these materials was an estimated 30 to 50 pounds of metallic mercury. Atomic absorption spectroscopy was used to detect possible downslope subsurface movement of mercury as an indicator of total toxic material movement."
