- The collection consists of the papers of the Kollock family from 1799-1962. The papers include a permanently bound volume of letters (1799-1850) which were printed in the Georgia Historical Quarterly. Topics include social and political life in Savannah and Clarksville, Georgia, and Habersham County, Georgia, agriculture, labor, education, transportation and communication difficulties, health matters, and their homes in Habersham County. The most recent letters and miscellaneous materials concern the genealogy of the family and contain historical data on the Habersham County homes. The collection also include printed material relating to Joseph B. Jones and Samuel Goode Jones, a paper written by Susan Marion Kollock III relating to the history of Woodlands, home of George J. Kollock, and information on Blythewood home of Mary Helen Johnston.

- Biographical/Historical Note:
- Lemuel Kollock of Wrentham, Connecticut, married Maria Campbell. Their sons were Phineas Miller Kollock (b. 1804) and George Jones Kollock (b. 1810). Phineas Kollock graduated from Harvard College (1823) and the Pennsylvania Medical School (1826), and worked as a physician in Savannah, Georgia, until his death (1872). George J. Kollock studied at Yale University, practiced law in Savannah, Georgia, and managed farms nearby. The brothers married sisters who were the daughters of Colonel James Johnston and Ann Maria Houstoun.
