- Records contain membership lists, clippings, lecture programs, handbooks, booklets, and photographs, as well as three carved smoking pipes and floppy disks. Records came to the archives in several donations and primarily originate from D.V.S. members and faculty members affiliated with the group. The many files related to the annual Jamboree, the events of which include initiation activities and the Goodrich C. White Lecture Series, consist primarily of member lists and correspondence.

- D.V.S. was founded as an honorary society at Emory College, electing seven seniors for membership every year. The group disbanded in the 1970s but was re-established in 1980. The organization chiefly operates in secret and newly elected members are not publicly revealed until commencement. Among the group's notable activities are the Goodrich C. White Lecture Series, named for former Emory President and D.V.S. member, as well as the D.V.S. Award, given to individuals who have had the greatest positive impact on students in a given year.
