First Latin edition, translated from the German original which appeared in the same year. The author has included a supplement; "Apologia quorundam qui vulgo Anabaptistas nominatur". The translator, Josias Simmler was a noted swiss classicist and theologian who authored the first book relating to the Alps; he had been a student of Bullinger who was also his godfather.
Signatures: aa-bb⁸, A-Z⁸, a-i⁸ Initials. Pitts Theology Library copy bound in contemporary limp vellum. Pitts Theology Library copy has ownership inscription on title page of Helia Marbach of Schaffhausen, dated 1589. Possibly a relative of the reformer Johann Marbach (1521-1581).
