Letter from the Earl of Bellomont with news of the province of New York, including naval stores, imports and exports, price of pitch and tar, land grants for long-serving soldiers, the timber trade, the attack of remote Western Indians on Senecas and his desire for permission to hold a conference to discuss trade with the Indian tribes in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and the Carolinas, issues with the customs office and piracy, the need for a good Attorney General, and the behaviour of a group of Scots recently arrived from Caledonia. Enclosed are various related documents referenced in the letter, from correspondence and reports to council minutes, accounts, official proclamations and petitions -- Letter from the Earl of Jersey concerning a proposed meeting of the Earl of Bellomont with the Governors of Virginia and Maryland to discuss their territories, and consenting to the pardon of Coll.
