- Summary:
- "Between 1827 and 1832, Mendelssohn composed a series of cantatas, including O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden. Published here for the first time in a critical full score, this work was composed in 1830, roughly a year after Mendelssohn's celebrated revival of the St. Matthew Passion. Mendelssohn's homage to Bach is obvious from the style of this cantata and its use of the chorale melody that occurs frequently in the St. Matthew Passion." --
