"Indorsement, as follows-- 'The map by which the Privy Council 1685 settled the bounds between the Lord Baltimore & I [William Penn (1644-1718)], and Maryland & Pennsylvania & Territorys or annexed Countys.' In the corner of which [map] is the second pictorial view of New York (New Amsterdam)]." The dates 1655?-85 lined out with the manuscript date 1651 added.
The map includes names and locations of Indian tribes and settlements and animal vignettes. The map follows the east coast from modern day New Brunswick in the north to Chesapeake Bay in the south. To the west, the map extends as far as the Susquehanna River following its northern branch. The northernmost part the the map includes the St. Lawrence River. - Language:
